In 1981, Nick Brouwer was hired into the Chalmers Fuels business as a fuel truck driver. After 6 years of hard work and long hours, Nick was promoted to a dispatch position at the new and now permanent home of Chalmers Fuels in Georgetown, ON.
By 1988, Nick became operations manager and proceeded to a partnership position with Ron Chalmers in 1992. Purchases of the North Wellington, Perth and Grey agencies provided a second home base in Teviotdale, ON allowing Chalmers Fuels to become the largest reseller in all of Ontario. Nick and his family currently reside in North Wellington.
In 1996, Mark Nebel, a career Imperial Oil Limited manager, joined the firm as a partner.
Today, both Chalmers Fuels office locations are overseen and managed by Nick Brouwer and Mark Nebel.
Here's a Chronological Look at The Major Events That Have Contributed To The Success Of Chalmers Fuels:
1962- Chalmers Fuels is founded by Peg & Doug Chalmers.
1969- Son Ron Chalmers joins the company.
1970- Chalmers Fuels acquires neighbouring Esso Associate in Woodbridge.
1978- Ron becomes partner in business.
1982- Chalmers Fuels acquires part of Esso Associate in Oakville.
1984- Doug Chalmers retires and hands the business over to Ron.
1984- Part of the original Maple, ON business is traded for the Brampton area.
1988- Nick Brouwer becomes operations manager.
1990- Competitor is purchased in Georgetown/Brampton area.
1992- Nick becomes partner in business and Chalmers Fuels becomes the
largest reseller in Ontario.
1996-Mark Nebel becomes partner.
1998-Ron hands over the day-to-day management to Nick and Mark.
2005-Nick introduces Propane Gas, Products & Services for Farm, Home and Commercial
applications at the Teviotdale location.
